Absolute quantification of total HIV DNA species and 2-LTR circles from cellular DNA at a detection limit of 1 copy per million cells
HIV DNA species remain at detectable levels even among suppressed HIV-infected individuals. Quantitation of DNA from PBMC and CD4+ T cells is an important biomarker to monitor among individuals on combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) and in the context of HIV cure and remission.
Sample Type
Whole blood collected in EDTA. Cryopreserved peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC).
Sample Volume
Peripheral Blood – 5-10 milliliters. Cryopreserved PBMC – 5 x 106 cells.
